SEATTLE, Wash. – While many stars in the NFL try to keep their personal lives private, the quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks is opening up about his relationship.

Russell Wilson spoke at The Rock Church on Sunday to discuss his relationship with God, his family, his recent divorce and his new girlfriend.

Wilson is dating singer Ciara.

During the interview, Wilson went into detail about his decision to abstain from pre-marital sex with the pop star.

“She was on tour, she was traveling. I was looking at her in the mirror. She was in the dressing room getting ready to go before she went on stage. And I was sitting there and God spoke to me and said, ‘I need you to lead her.’ And I was like, ‘Really? Right now?’ And he was like, ‘No, I need, want you to lead her.’ So I told her, ‘What would you do if we took all of that extra stuff off the table and just did it Jesus’ way?; And she was relieved.”

Wilson isn’t shy about expressing his Christian beliefs and he says through abstinence, he and Ciara came closer to God.

However, he says it is not an easy task.

“I ain’t going to lie to you all now,” he said. “I need you all to pray for us. I know you’ve seen her on the screen. If there’s a 10, she’s a 15.”

The two have known each other for about six months.
