MCLOUD, Okla.– An Oklahoma officer continues to recover after a serious wreck in Mcloud. Meanwhile, law enforcement from around the state come together, bringing Christmas to one special kid’s front step.
Santa spent his Wednesday on a worldwide tour, but took time out of his trip to see little Archer. This trip was a much needed break for the 6-year-old.
Archer’s dad, Alan Smith, was seriously injured while on duty last week in Mcloud, slipping into a coma shortly after the wreck. KFOR has learned Alan awoke from his coma on Tuesday.
“He said that his dad is in hibernation,” said Erica Smith, Archer’s mom. “Like a bear, so that’s what made sense to him.”
News of Alan’s condition spread around the state, as crews came together to make the present drop off possible.
“They all got together and said ‘let’s make this happen,'” said Wes Elliott, who planned Archer’s surprise. “We’ve got Santa Clause; he’s taking time out of his day today.”
And make it happen they did. Presents were neatly wrapped and ready to go on Wednesday.
All that was left, was to tear that wrapping to pieces.
“Santa came to see me, and give me presents,” said Archer. “I got a dump truck, and a tractor, and a hot wheels truck.”
But Archer also got a memory he hopes to share with his dad.
