OKLAHOMA CITY – A security guard at an Oklahoma City apartment complex shot and killed a man Thursday.

Around 1:30 a.m., police were called to the Pontomac House Apartments, near S.W 59th and May, on reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a man who had apparently been shot to death.

According to the Oklahoma City Police Department, investigators determined there had been some type of disturbance at the complex when an armed security guard, Joseph Modia, saw a man firing a gun.

That is when police say Modia confronted the suspect, Kenta Stepney.

When Stepney allegedly raised and fired his weapon at Modia, the security guard returned fire, killing the suspect.

Modia was not injured, officials say.

The case will be presented to the district attorney to determine if charges should be filed.
