NEWALLA, Okla. -A series of break-ins have a lot of folks concerned in a Newalla neighborhood.

People living in the affected area are speaking out about the burglaries because they want the thieves caught and valuables back.

"We're on our toes now. Everybody out here has weapons. Everyone has permits and we're going to be a lot more aware," Rhoda Brown-Waldrip said.

Rhoda Brown-Waldrip lives in this neighborhood near S.E. 134th & Choctaw.

Brown-Waldrip wants her neighbors to be aware after her detached garage was broken into early Wednesday morning.

She says someone also broke into her husband's vehicle.

Brown-Waldrip is surprised the apparent thief only took a band-aid box with about $20 in it, plus a blue tooth speaker.

"We had a lot of other things in there they could've taken, expensive tools, generators and they didn't touch any of that," Brown-Waldrip said.

However, she still fells violated.

"Things are happening everywhere. I'd like to think we're in a safe, small area but it's not anymore," Brown-Waldrip said.

A man living nearby was also targeted Wednesday.

His vehicles were broken into and guns were stolen, leaving more neighbors concerned.

"It makes me wonder if they were close, do they live close and now they have a weapon? Are we in any danger?" said Michelle Doss.

Residents hope whoever is trespassing and stealing gets caught.

"It's definitely disrespectful. You're taking property that doesn't belong to you and you're taking a weapon, so that's very dangerous," said Doss.

Victims of the burglaries said they have filed police reports and the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office said they’re looking into this case.

In the meantime, folks in the neighborhood said they plan to lock all doors, keep their security lights on and be on the lookout for suspicious activity.
