Shining above the rest, another Oklahoma star is born

OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma student is being honored for winning the OK City Star Contest.

Isaiah Bailey won the 2014 OK City Star on Saturday night at the ACM at UCO Performance Lab.

Bailey, age 22, is graduating in May from Oklahoma City University with a Vocal Performance degree.  After graduation, he plans to move to New York to pursue a career in musical theater.

KJ-103’s Brad B. presented Bailey with a check for $1000.  Isaiah also won recording time for a single at with mixing and mastering, and the opportunity to appear in concert with Way Out West recording star Shawn Russell.

Second place went to Willie Hill of Tulsa.  Willie, who is a vocal student at the University of Central Oklahoma, received a check for $500.  The third place winner, earning $250, was 17 year old Putnam City North student Rachael Wheat.

Rounding out the top ten on Saturday night were Caleb Baze and Courtney Hooker of Edmond, Coriano Gipson of Midwest City, Blake Lillard of Claremore, Nyia Patton of Norman, Erica Maynord and Sierra Rose of Oklahoma City.

The field of contestants for 2014 included singers from 19 different cities in Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas.
