OKLAHOMA CITY-Whether you believe psychics can communicate with the dead or not, no one can deny it is a multi-million dollar business.

One of the most successful mediums is John Edwards, who is known for giving readings to celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Gloria Vanderbelt.

However, not everyone is a fan.

More than a dozen skeptics from the University of Central Oklahoma stood outside in protest of John Edwards’ appearance in Oklahoma City.

One skeptic said, “The truth of what’s going on isn’t necessarily there to back up these statements that are made.”

Edwards is one of the country’s most successful psychics headlining two different shows based on his work.

At $150 a ticket, hundreds of residents came to get answers to some of life’s questions.

Demonstrators outside say it’s all hogwash.

Caleb Lack, the advisor of the UCO Skeptic Club, claims in many cases, a lot of trickery is involved.

Lack said, “A lot of times, people who do this sort of thing will have plants in the audience who will mingle beforehand and report back. Or there’ll be hidden microphones so they’ll pick up information rather than actually having psychic powers.”

Oklahoma City medium Terry Blackshire supports Edwards and welcomes cynics.

He hosts a weekly online radio show where he says he helps a lot of people have closure.

Blackshire said, “Like a mother who lost her child and just wants to know that their child is okay, and I’ve experienced that. And to come with validation about her son or daughter that only she knows that I don’t know and, you know, that they’re okay. At that moment, she starts her healing and moves forward in her life.”

Edwards addressed the protesters downstairs and says he encourages attendees to be critical and objective.

Supporters say the proof is in his reputation.

Local psychics tell us because of the strong spiritual base in the Sooner State, they tend to have more success outside Oklahoma.
