LINCOLN COUNTY, Mo. (CNN) – Police in Missouri said they have made an arrest in a case that sounds like it is right out of a horror movie.

A mother is behind bars for allegedly putting on a ski mask and threatening her neighbor’s kids with a chainsaw.

Neighbors said they spotted Lynn Marie Herzog sawing a downed tree when the commotion started.

“I come out of my door and hear her screaming at the kids,” Patty Fleming said. “The boys start walking and she starts walking toward them with her ski mask and her chainsaw, shaking it like she was going to hurt the kids.”

Herzog is charged with a felony.

However, parents said they believe a mental treatment facility would be better than prison.

Another neighbor has filed for a protective order after what she said has been years of threats against her mentally-disabled son.

“Our son is so terrified of her that he’s afraid she’s going to wind up in the house with him and do something to him,” Lesa Vossenkemper said. “I’m tired of living in fear. She scares me and I don’t let a whole lot scare me but she does.”

If convicted of the charges, Herzog could face up to four years in prison

Her bail was set at $10,000.
