OKLAHOMA CITY - Our recent winter storm has left hundreds of cars abandoned in ditches or on the side of the roadways.

Towing companies are working hard to keep up with the high demand while preparing for the next wave of snow and ice.

Arrow Wrecker Service is already getting ready, making sure their trucks are in good condition.

Crews are checking the tire pressure, fluids and cleaning off their headlights.

Raymond Kester, with Arrow Wrecker Service, said, "It has been crazy. Every time it seems like there's a drop of snow or ice, no one can drive."

Kester said tow truck workers drive anywhere from 12 to 16 hours-a-day when a storm hits the metro.

Between Monday and Tuesday, Arrow Wrecker Service responded to about 300 cars on the side of the road.

Only a couple more days of mild weather stand in between yet another winter mix in the forecast.

Kester said, "Making sure our trucks are ready and our drivers having enough rest to make it to all the calls and keep going."

Danny Day, a manager at the business, said, "We have to keep an eye on our employees. After they've run for several hours, we have to make sure they eat and have dry clothes back on and away we go again."

Full staff is being called in and over 30 trucks are up and running, ready to take on the unexpected.

The 24-hour towing service benefits from the storms; however, drivers still feel for those people who end up stranded with their vehicles.

Kester said, "It's heartbreaking for a lot of people, but it's life. We accept it, move on and do what we got to do."

Now it's time to wait and see what Mother Nature brings this time.

He said, "I'm ready for the next blast to be over, I'm ready for some sun."

According to the 4Warn Storm Team, more rain and snow are expected this weekend.
