Stretch of highway dedicated to fallen Oklahoma soldier

POTEAU, Okla. - A stretch of road that runs through an Oklahoma county and crosses into Arkansas has been named in honor of a fallen hero.

The U.S. Highway 59 bypass in Poteau runs through LeFlore County and connects to Fogel, Arkansas was named in honor of Chief Warrant Officer 2 Randy Lee Billings on Saturday.

Billings and five other soldiers were killed in 2013 while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. The helicopter the soldiers were in was shot down in southern Afghanistan.

According to KFSM, Billings received several awards during his military career including the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and the Meritorious Service Medal.
