OKLAHOMA CITY – Today parents received a message from a local Oklahoma City elementary school about a student that may have brought weapons to school.

Parents who have a child attending Coolidge Elementary received a pre-recorded phone message from the principal.

The message let them know that Friday afternoon, a child had been caught on campus with several weapons, including a gun and a knife.

Parents are upset they were not notified during school hours and that the school was not placed on lockdown.

When NewsChannel 4 contacted the Oklahoma City School District about those concerns, they replied with the following statement:

“Weapons are not allowed on any Oklahoma City Public School campus and district leaders work closely with law enforcement to prosecute any student or staff member who violate this policy.”
