CYPRESS, Texas – A second-grader said a teacher took away her Bible during time students were given to read to themselves.

KHOU reported the family is angry and looking for help after the teacher allegedly told the girl not to bring the Bible back to school.

The girl’s parents said the teacher said the holy book is “inappropriate reading material.”

The family’s attorney said the school’s alleged actions are questionable because the school library contains copies of the Bible.

The Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District released a statement saying it is working to confirm the allegations.
