OKLAHOMA CITY – Kids are challenging their creativity and conquering their fears at spring break camps all over the metro.

Organizers said it is a great way for students to stay active and learn outside the classroom.

At Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center, students put their artistic skills to work, exploring different programs.

“I mean, it’s always fun to learn something new or try something new. If you never tried something new, how would you know if you didn’t like it?” said 11-year-old Thayre Dycus.

From art to science fiction, there’s something for everybody here.

“We’re here for them to express their creative side and take that with them through life,” said Christine Gibson with the Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center.

At the Boathouse District, kids get to learn about different water sports and obstacle courses.

“Camps are super fun, but they’re also a way to learn about the Olympics and everything we do here on the water. A lot of kids will join camp and will decide this is something they really like to do, and it will turn into potentially a sport,” said Aasim Saleh, Paddle Sports Director.

“I think it’s fun to get outside and do something adventurous,” said 8-year-old Ellie Morgan.

One of those adventurous activities includes climbing dozens of feet of stairs to tackle a speed slide.

“I conquered my fears of heights and slides,” Morgan said.

In case you missed the spring break camps, registration for summer camps is already open.
