Do you crave sugar?
Turns out sugar trumps fat when it comes to craving something sweet.
Experts gave one hundred high school students milkshakes while sitting in an M.R.I machine.
While all of the shakes activated so called “reward centers” in the brain, it was those that were high in sugar and low in fat that were the most effective and also triggered areas of the brain involved in compulsive eating.
Researchers say this shows them sugar does a better job of driving areas of the brain involved in food cravings.
They hope to use this information when treating people with addictions to food or people who are obese.
