American Pharoah comes to New York as the latest 'super horse' with a chance to win racing's biggest and most elusive prize- The Triple Crown.

Tom Hammond of NBC Sports says, "It's one of the toughest things to accomplish in all of sports."

Since Affirmed accomplished the feat in 1978, 13 horses have won the first two legs of the Triple Crown only to fall short at Belmont, the longest race of the series.

"He doesn't know he's going to have to go a little extra distance, so we're going to surprise him with that one," says American Pharoah's Trainer, Bob Baffert.

The mile and a half oval is the longest any of the horses have, or will ever, run.

It's a distance that separates really good horses from the greatest of all time.

Maybe it's the longer run, maybe it's the grind of three races in five weeks, maybe it's the pressure of a race toward history... but many in the race game say this time, this horse is different.

"Even the opposing trainers would say he's the best horse of this group," says Tom Hammond.

And if he can get to the finish line first this evening, Pharoah will be one of the best of all time.

The excitement begins at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
