OKLAHOMA CITY – A rape suspect is locked up after police say he lured a young teen girl into having sex with him at a car wash.

Prosecutors say Michael Christopher Beam committed a detestable crime against a 13-year-old girl.

The suspect used an app police say is a growing concern.

Law enforcement agencies say “Kik” is the problem app of the moment.

It offers free and unlimited texting that can easily go unnoticed by parents.

In this case, police say a 13-year-old girl fell victim to the suspect on Kik, and he ended up using her to make child porn.

The victim told police she and Beam also talked on Snapchat, an app that allows users to exchange videos that disappear.

The teen said Beam picked her up from her home after her mom left for work, took her to the car wash at 1600 N. May and made her perform sex acts on him.

She said it happened again multiple times, and Beam allegedly demanded more from her.

It happened around the victim’s birthday.

She’s now 14.

According to court documents, she said the suspect had planned to take her to a hotel that weekend “and engage in sexual activity with multiple men and make a video of the encounter.”

Beam is now facing a slew of charges.

The victim told police Beam later sent her a photo of himself inside her.

Law enforcement is growing more concerned about apps that easily enable sex predators access to children.

According the app’s website, 40% of teens in the U.S. have Kik.

Almost the same number use Snapchat.

Social media experts say child predators rely on online sources to find their victims, and conversations between parents and kids to prevent that are critical.

“When you search the Apple store or the Google store you can just search for chat app and there’s probably 30 or 40 of them out there if not more that kids can download and hide,” Patrick Allmond said.

Investigators say Beam sent the victim a message, asking her to hold out for him until she’s 16 and could get emancipated to live with him.

Instead, the teen is now helping investigators.

OCPD officers are concerned Beam may have other victims out there.

He’s being held in the Oklahoma County jail on charges including rape, forcible oral sodomy, and manufacturing child porn.
