WEATHERFORD, Okla. – After a local college campus was placed on lockdown, officials announced everything will be going back to normal.

Authorities with Southwestern Oklahoma State University say the campus was placed on lockdown after officials received a report of a man with a gun on campus.

Officials say a phone call was made to the Weatherford Police Department, claiming a man was carrying a weapon in the Campbell building.

However, the caller said the gunman was leaving the building.

Police searched the entire campus but could not find a suspect.

A short time later, the lockdown was canceled after no gunman was found.

However, officials warned that students may continue to see officers on campus as a precaution.
