HOUSTON, Texas – It is an academic mess for some seniors who were set to graduate in a few months.
Spring Independent School District officials say there are widespread problems with the transcripts of more than 1,000 students, meaning some may not have the classes needed to graduate.
Authorities say through no fault of their own, hundreds of students are in jeopardy of not graduating in May.
Some seniors are being forced to come back to Dekaney High School next fall.
Last month, school officials say they discovered systematic problems with more than 1,000 student transcripts dating back to 2008.
Some students were taking a class more than once while others were not taking the classes they needed to graduate.
In order to make up for it, some students are taking evening classes, online classes and even Saturday classes.
So far, two administrators have resigned.
However, the district says the investigation is just beginning.
