LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA) – Authorities are calling them “mini crime fighters.”

Two Florida teens are being praised by the sheriff after they took swift action and helped officials bust an accused pedophile.

When Michael Jenny honked at two teen boys, ages 15 and 13, and threw them a graphic, sexual note, the boys immediately came up with a plan.

Authorities told WFLA the man offered the boys $60 to perform a sex act.

“Well, they are junior detectives,” said Sheriff Grady Judd. “Hmm, they thought. This guy is a pedophile. We need to do something.”

While one of the boys talked with the man, the other boy took out his phone and took a picture of Jenny’s military specialty license plate.

As part of their plan, the boys told the man they would participate in the lewd act, but they wanted more money.

“He gets all excited, hold on a minute, ‘I’ve got to go to the ATM.’ Off he charges to the ATM. Two kids get into CVS, where it’s safe and they call 911,” said the sheriff.

Jenny was arrested.

The sheriff is calling the teenagers “heroes.”

Neighbors of Jenny’s told WFLA he is married with several children.
