OKLAHOMA CITY – A teenager is in custody after an alleged assault and a chase through a metro neighborhood.
Around noon, a quiet neighborhood in Northwest Oklahoma City saw a lot of excitement.
Air One was searching from above as officers swept city streets, looking for a group of teenagers involved in an alleged assault.
Police were called out to the 100 block of Wilshire near Broadway Extension after three teens allegedly tried to carjack or rob someone leaving a business on Wilshire.
The caller said the teens were armed.
When officers arrived, they saw the suspects running on foot.
Police went after them, and the chase lasted more than an hour.
It ended around NW 86th and Walker.
Officers eventually caught up to one of the guys and took him into custody.
They found a weapon on him.
Turns out, it was a toy gun.
“It appears they did have a toy fire arm with them. We think that was used with the original victim,” OCPD Lt. Jim Miller said.
Thankfully, that victim is safe.
Now one man is spending Christmas Eve in jail facing felony charges.
Police haven’t released the suspects’ names.
One teen still on the run was seen wearing a tan plaid jacket and a black backpack with white stripes.
