MACOMB, Okla. – A Macomb teacher and a man from Arizona were arrested in connection to a child pornography case.

Lucas Cane, 30, of Ada, Oklahoma, and also a teacher in Macomb, was arrested on Tuesday in Oklahoma. He is charged with distribution of child pornography and conspiracy to distribute child pornography.

He made his first appearance on Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma and remains held pending further court proceedings in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

Cane is a junior high/high school social studies teacher for Macomb Public Schools.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia says Daniel Nickelson, Jr., 36, of Sierra Vista, Arizona, was also arrested on Tuesday in Arizona. He is charged with advertising child pornography, distributing child pornography, and conspiracy to distribute child pornography.

He is to expected to make his first court appearance in Arizona Wednesday.

Macomb Public School officials say they were notified Tuesday morning of Cane’s arrest.

“The subject matter pertaining to the arrest occurred off campus, so no children were harmed or at risk at any time. As this is an ongoing investigation, we cannot at this time make any further comment, but we will work closely with law enforcement to address the situation accordingly as we receive more specific information about it.”
