ODESSA, Texas – It’s a shocking crime that no family would ever expect.

Police in Texas are searching for a woman accused of targeting a family in mourning.

Robin Barrett told CBS 7 that she was getting ready for her grandmother’s funeral when she learned the unthinkable.

“It’s a mission,” Barrett said. “It’s a mission for us to find this woman.”

As her 88-yer-old grandmother’s body rested in a casket at the funeral home, a stranger stole a ring off of her finger.

The crime was caught on camera, and now everyone is searching for the alleged thief.

Police believe the woman wanted to pawn the ring, but she will likely be disappointed.

Not only is her picture posted in all of the pawn shops, but the ring is only worth about $10.

“It’s just disgusting. I can’t imagine anyone being so heartless that anyone would do this,” said Roxanne Neatherlin.
