MYSTIC, Conn. (The Day) – A playground sign that was built in the memory of a victim of the Sandy Hook shooting massacre has been stolen.

Grace McDonnell was one of the 20 first-graders who died in the 2012 shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

A sign dedicated to her memory was taken from a playground built as a memorial to the victims.

According to The Day, the thief allegedly called McDonnell’s family to tell them the sign was missing and that the shooting was a hoax.

A replacement sign has been ordered.
