ENID, Okla. – A woman is arrested after pretending her daughter had cancer to raise money for alleged medical costs.

“Not much we can do about it, just one bad apple,” Josh Norman, who helped put on a fundraiser for Jessica Lynn Good, said.

At that fundraiser, $12,000 were raised for Good and her 4-year-old daughter who she claimed was dying from cancer.

“She just comes up giving me those sob stories about how bad she is and all of this other stuff. Then just recently just hit me up on Facebook saying she was on her last leg. The doctors say there was nothing else they could do for her,” Norman said.

Norman wasn’t the only one who wanted to help.

Good used GoFundMe.com asking for money to cover medical costs, bringing in funds from local churches, businesses and people all around the Enid community.

“We were able to obtain medical records and we found that this child has never seen a doctor in reference to cancer or any type of tumor ever went into remission,” Captain Jack Morris with the Enid Police Department said.

Morris says Good has been orchestrating this scam since her daughter was only a few months old, even lying to family members including her own husband.

However, on Friday she came clean and turned herself in to police.

“It’s kind of alarming and sad for our community because we are a pretty close knit community even though we’re over 50,000, people are very generous here,” Morris said.

“It’s kind of disturbing that all of her other kids think my sister really has been sick and this little girl is growing up thinking she’s sick. It’s just nuts,” Norman said.

Enid police are asking for any other victims of this scam to come forward.
