OKLAHOMA CITY – As severe storms brought strong winds and hail to the metro, thousands of residents were left without electricity.
According to OG&E’s System Watch, more than 40,000 people were still without power by 5:40 a.m. on Wednesday. OG&E says more than half of those customers are in the Oklahoma City area.
OG&E said it was bringing in more crews to try and restore electricity as quickly as possible.
“We don’t have restoration times right now, but we expect multi-day outages,” OG&E posted.
Officials say they are also experiencing issues with their phone system, so customers should report outages online.
We're bringing in more crews to assist with restoration. We don't have restoration times right now, but we expect multi-day outages. We're also experiencing issues with our phone system and are advising customers to report outages either online or through myOGEalerts. #okwx pic.twitter.com/U3ALoD9DTf
