Update: EB I-40 ramp at 15th St. reopens in Del City after semi fire

DEL CITY, Okla. – The semi has been towed from the roadway, and I-40 eastbound near Hudiburg Dr. in Del City, Okla.  is back open.

The eastbound ramp of I-40 was blocked at 15th St. after a semi caught fire early Tuesday morning.

The road is back open to traffic at this time.


DEL CITY, Okla. – Multiple agencies are working a semi that caught fire in Del City, which is also blocking traffic for the morning commute in the metro.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says it happened around 5:30 A.M. Tuesday morning on eastbound I-40 near Hudiburg Dr.

The eastbound ramp of I-40 at 15th St. is blocked.

NewsChannel 4 has crews on the scene.

Our crews report that the driver was driving eastbound on I-40 then noticed flames coming from the hood and pulled over.

Soon after he pulled over it burst into flames.

The driver had a fire extinguisher, but it didn’t put out the flames.

Del City Fire Department was called in to assist.

The driver was not hurt, and the semi was not hauling anything.

Officials have not released the cause of that fire.
