DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. – A deadly shooting inside a Georgia home Saturday left five people dead and two others wounded.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says three adults, a 7-year-old child, and a 9-year-old child were killed in this tragic shooting.
“To see the kids’ shoes lying in the road, and boots. It was heart wrenching,” a neighbor said.
Investigators say a man walked into the home and started shooting.
“It tears at your heart. It doesn’t make any sense,” said Lt. Glenn Daniel of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department.
According to WXIA, some of the victims died at the scene, while others died on the way to the hospital.
Two juveniles, a 15-year-old and an 8-year-old, are in critical condition at an Atlanta hospital.
The shooter, 33-year-old Cedric Prather, died from self-inflicted wounds.
Although authorities are not releasing the relationship of the shooter to the victims, neighbors say he was the estranged husband of the woman who lived in the home with their five children and her boyfriend.
