LOGAN COUNTY, Okla. – A tragic car accident in Logan County left two people dead, including one child.

Officials with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol say the accident happened Wednesday around 3:30 p.m. on Highway 74 near Seward Road.

OHP says Brian George, 38, was driving northbound on the highway when he left the road for an unknown reason.

George then over-corrected and went into the southbound lanes, striking 48-year-old Lena Shingleton’s vehicle.

Three children were inside Shingleton’s vehicle at the time of the crash.

George was thrown about 75 feet from his vehicle.  Officials say he was not wearing a seat belt.

He died on the way to the hospital, the OHP report states.

Shingleton was pinned for approximately one hour before she was freed by the Crescent Fire Department.

She was transported to an Oklahoma City hospital in critical condition.

One of the children inside her vehicle died in the crash.  Officials have not released the age of the child.

The other two children were transported to a Guthrie hospital.  One of the children is in critical condition. The other child is listed in stable condition.
