BETHANY, Okla.- Two years after his death a Chaplain gets his own memorial.

That's because a boy scout he inspired refused to let his memory fade away.

Kyle bloomer is a junior at Bethany high school and a member of the boy scouts working towards eagle scout.

Before Bloomer can become an Eagle Scout, he has to complete one final project.

Bloomers project is to build a memorial of his idol the late Wally Renegar, a neighbor of Bloomers.

Bloomer describes his neighbor "He was the mayor of our cul-de-sac, he just took care of all of us."

Regenar served as Chaplain for the Bethany Police Department for years after his retirement.
He was killed in a tragic car accident almost two years ago.

Bloomer says Regenar touched the hearts of many communities, with his good will and positive nature.

"He's just so kind he always greats you with a smile there's nothing negative that ever does or say, and I just want to be like that when I grow up. he's just kind of opened that door to saying that there's always that choice there for me there that if I want to I can go and be there for people if they need me and change lives."

Bloomer has raised nearly ten thousand dollars so far and Saturday with the help of friends put some of the finishing touches on the memorial.

Committed to his church as an Elder Member for 52 years, the only commitment of Regenars which was longer, was that to his wife of 58 years, Waulea Renegar.

Waulea says is his memory is now externalized, thanks to the help of Bloomer and the Bethany community.
"They've been supportive, they've been encouraging and in so many ways told me individually, what he meant to them. There's no greater thing a woman can hear, is that her husband is remembered in the hearts of other people."

Bloomer is looking for donations to finish the memorial. If you would like help donate, you can make checks payable to:
