Training begins for new OKC Police recruits

OKLAHOMA CITY – The work to add a few more good men and women to patrol Oklahoma City streets is now underway.

Training began Friday morning for the police department’s 130th police academy, a process that will last until Aug. 1.

The 56 new recruits include 48 men and eight women ranging in age from 21 to 45 years old.

Included in the 1,000 hours of training is 70 hours of Spanish language instruction.
