CLAREMORE, Okla. — Three people are dead after a head-on collision in far northeastern Oklahoma.

It happened on State Highway 266 in Rogers County.

Troopers say a 1997 Chevy Tahoe, driven by Owen McCool, 29, tried to pass a tractor trailer when McCool’s vehicle went into a lane of oncoming traffic.

McCool hit a 2003 Chevy Malibu head on.

Clifford Colyer, 21, was behind the wheel of the Malibu.

Garold Brenner, 23, was also in the Malibu.

Both Colyer and Brenner died at the scene.

McCool was taken to the hospital where he later died.
