Two quakes startle residents in Oklahoma County

CHOCTAW, Okla. – A few residents in Choctaw had an early morning wake up call after an earthquake rattled the city early Sunday morning.

The Oklahoma Geological Survey confirms that a 2.5-magnitude earthquake was centered near NE 10th street between Peebly Rd. and Triple X Rd.

The survey began receiving reports of the first quake around 5:15 a.m.

On Sunday afternoon, the Oklahoma Geological Survey confirmed another quake that hit just after 12:00 p.m.

The second quake was recorded as a 3.3-magnitude, 3.2 miles away from Choctaw.
