SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – An unusual beauty procedure developed about 8 years ago is gaining popularity.

The vampire face-lift uses your own blood for a relatively pain-free beauty upgrade.

According to KPNX the theory behind the vampire face-lift is not as scary as it sounds.

Doctor Kevin Aister likes to tell his patients to think about what happens when we get a cut.

Aister said, “You get a scab, eventually that scab goes away; and the skin heals. Well the first step in the process is the body sends platelets there… and those platelets turn on proteins,” said Aister. “When these platelets are put in and activated, they’re turning on dormant stem cells to rejuvenate the tissues.”

The procedure begins with a single vile of the patient’s blood.

Experts then separate the platelet rich plasma and prepare it in individual doses.

Doctors then numb the areas and prepare them to be treated

The office visit only takes about 45 minutes.

The results take at least three weeks to show up.

Dr. Aister says the procedure costs around $15,000.

However, he does offer a topical vampire facial, which is cheaper and does not use any needles.
