Nurses and their patients can form special bonds, but this sweet example takes the wedding cake.

A 4-year-old leukemia patient in Albany, New York loves one of her nurses so much that she knew she wanted to marry him.

So, the staff at the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancers at the Albany Medical Center got together and made that ‘wedding’ happen Thursday.

Following a bridal procession complete with bridesmaids, flowers, and even a hospital mask veil, little Abby gave a tiny curtsey as she asked nurse Matt Hickling to marry her.

Matt said, “Of course, I will marry you! Will you take me to be your husband?”

As you can see in the video above, Abby’s hug was an emphatic ‘Yes.’

Nurse Lori Ciafardoni posted the video to WNYT NewsChannel 13’s Facebook page, saying that the staff and generous donors from a local flower shop planned the wedding in less than 24 hours.

“THIS is why we go into nursing,” said Ciafardoni.
