SALT LAKE CITY (KSTU) – A dog owner, who learned an officer had entered his private property and shot his pet, confronts officers on the scene.

Sean Kendall says he came home to find his 3-year-old dog, Geist, shot to death.

Kendall says animal control officers called him to alert him of the shooting.

Police at the scene say an officer was looking for a missing child and entered Kendall’s property.

He felt threatened by Geist, who was located inside a fenced-in area, and shot the dog in the head.

Kendall confronted officers at the scene, recording the whole interaction on his phone and posting it to Facebook.

The officers listened patiently to the grieving man.

However, the officer who actually shot the dog left the scene before Kendall arrived.
