TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A quarterback at Florida State University has been indefinitely suspended after allegedly punching a woman at a bar.

According to the Tallahassee Democrat, Florida State University quarterback De’Andre Johnson was charged with misdemeanor battery.

Johnson is accused of punching a woman in the face at a bar during an argument on June 24.

Court records say the incident started when the woman was waiting in line for a drink at the bar and felt Johnson push past her aggressively.

She says she raised her arm to defend herself, and he grabbed her arm and began pushing her.

Court records say she raised her knee into his midsection to push him away and attempted to punch him before Johnson punched her in the face.

Authorities say she suffered bruising near her left eye, swelling of the left cheek and upper lip, and a small cut near the bridge of her nose.

Johnson turned himself in after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

The Florida State Attorney’s Office released surveillance video from the bar on Monday.

Johnson was suspended indefinitely from the football team for a violation of “athletic department policy,” the school said in a statement Thursday.
