ST. LOUIS — St Louis police chief Sam Dotson said protesters threw rocks, bricks and water bottles at officers during a protest on Wednesday, August 19.

Dotson said officers used shields to protect themselves and deployed smoke and tear gas to disperse crowds.

He said nine people were arrested as demonstrators “crossed the line” between peaceful protest and unlawful actions.
