NORMAN, Okla. -- Norman residents said they gained some sense of relief Wednesday when they found out a man accused of indecent exposure was back in jail.

Now some of the man's neighbors are speaking out, wondering why James Walkup was able to bond out in the first place.

While Walkup remains in jail his neighbors are still on the lookout, trying to keep their kids safe.

Jennifer Mason, assistant manager at a nearby apartment complex said she is furious.

Mason said, "The fact that a man that exposed himself to children was released on bond and able to come home just 100 feet away from 50 children blows me away."

Sky Horton, who lives in the same duplex with Walkup, said, "Our landlord called us and told us he was in jail but that's all."

Horton had no idea why her neighbor was in jail until today.

Our crew went to Walkup's home, but no one answered.

While police are saying very little about their investigations, Mason said it was in this same neighborhood police were called after a man exposed himself to several kids at a bus stop.

Mason said, "We're on watch for our kids. We've got people walking to the bus stop with them and coming home."

Mason has been passing out flyers with Walkup's picture, alerting her complex residents.

She said, "I've put it all over the complex so all the parents can be aware of what he looks like since he's just across the street from us."

She's hoping to let everyone in the neighborhood know who he is in case he does get out of jail again anytime soon.

Mason said, "When he's released again we should be warned. We should know who's across the street from our children."

We tried to talk with the Cleveland County District Attorney about the investigation; however, he was in meetings all day and was not able to meet with us.

Police said they cannot comment because the investigation is ongoing.
