NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio – An Ohio groundhog is wanted for fraud after predicting an early spring this year.

The North Ridgeville police department posted a photo on Facebook of a K-9 unit searching for the furry con artist as temperatures dropped into the 30s Friday.

The department wrote that, “on or about February 2nd of this year an unknown rodent assured the world that winter would be short lived.”

Northeast Ohio is expected to see 4-8 inches of snow this weekend, and the police and community want answers after the groundhog’s shadowy, wildly incorrect forecast.

They describe the suspect as 8 inches tall and said he has shifty eyes.

K-9 units are on high alert for the suspect.
