STATEN ISLAND, NY — Every year, Public School 22 sings a special song. This year’s special song was dedicated to Mrs. Adriana Lopez.

Mrs. Lopez is battling breast cancer.

So the kids and their choir director, Gregg Breinberg, decided to dedicate a special song to show their love and support.

The choir sang Martina McBride’s cancer survivor anthem, “I’m Gonna Love You Through It.”

Mrs. Lopez was brought to tears by the loving – and rather talented – performance.

According to the choir director’s Facebook page, the performance was “for a dear friend and teacher at PS22 whose bravery and dedication to her students amidst a difficult fight with breast cancer has inspired us all… We love you, Mrs. Lopez!!”
