BRADFORD, Maine – When snow in Maine disconnected his electric fence, Buster the pig busted out.

Instead of causing a ruckus, neighbors lured the hungry swine home with a few sweet treats.

“Want a cookie? There you go, good job. He loves cookies, ” said Jamie Smith.

Smith met Buster while he was driving in Bradford last weekend.

“From a distance, it just looks like a large animal that I didn’t recognize. I thought it might have been a moose,” said Smith.

Instead, he found a spunky swine.

“Immediately, he came around to pay me a visit at the window. We became friends right off,” Smith said.

Smith ended up feeding Buster a cookie before going on his way.

"He's a very friendly pig, very friendly. He loves the attention," said Brian.

Buster's owners, Stacey and Brian, say they've raised him like a dog or even a child.

"We made him our buddy. In the summertime, he gets daiquiris and desserts for breakfast and then he gets some grain and what not. Whatever we can come up with and he's just part of the bunch. He hangs out. Does campfires with us in the summer and in the winter time, he runs amok and startles the neighbors," Brian said.

The snow shut down Buster's electric fence, giving him prime opportunity to meet the neighbors.

"We're working on getting him a new fence. By the way, if anyone wants to donate to the Buster fund," Brian jokes.

For now, Buster is enjoying his cushy lifestyle with plenty of his favorite foods.

"I think it's great, pigs getting publicity. He's got more friends on the net than both of us do already," he said.

Buster has his own Facebook page, which is increasing his status in town.

"Now all the neighbors know who Buster is and when they pass by on Lagrange Rd., they'll keep an eye out for the pig. Maybe they'll all feed him cookies, you know? Jamie might have started a trend here."
