May 31 tornado death map

The El Reno, Union City tornado May 31 set a new record becoming the widest tornado ever documented.

The rapidly expanding tornado changed within a matter of seconds to an EF-5.

For the first time, we are learning where the victims were found and just how luck many others were to escape its wrath.

The first two victims, including amateur storm chaser Richard Henderson, were killed near S.W. 15th ST. and Choctaw Rd.

The bodies of another motorist and the Discovery Channel storm chasers, Tim Samaras, his son Paul, and Carl Young, were found in a three-mile diagonal path near N.W. 10th St. and Radio Rd.

The last victims claimed by the monster tornado, a mother and her child, were found near I-40 and Banner Rd.

Canadian County Undersheriff Chris West talked to us about working in the damaged areas and helping to recover those lost in the storms.
