FT. GIBSON Lake, Okla. - A man from Wagoner, Oklahoma has a whale of a tale to tell!

Bernie McBryde just snagged some major bragging rights at Fort Gibson Lake, where he caught a massive 82.7-pound blue catfish on a jug, beating the previous record by eight pounds!

After weighing the hefty catch, biologists from the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation snapped and posted this picture, capturing McBryde's pride just moments before he released the giant fish back into its home.

McBryde commented on the post, "The best part was watching it swim away. They dropped at the boat ramp, it broke (their) scale wire and landed on the pavement. I was so thankful for the good Lord to bless me today. Been after him a long time, and really happy he swam off to the deep. Fish on."

After many comments from well-wishers telling McBryde he should've taken home his prize catch, the fisherman also commented, "People, I would have loved to catch this fish on a rod and reel. But the good Lord blessed me with him on a jug with my best friend by my side. Wouldn't change it for the world," McBryde posted. "I turned it back for somebody else to be blessed like me. Get the net, bro."
