JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio – A woman charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault was arraigned Monday.
44-year-old Judy Jones reportedly told authorities she was dreaming about filleting a fish when she sliced her husband’s throat in his sleep.
Sheriff Fred Abdalla said, “She made threats that she was going to kill him, and she almost did early Saturday morning…the prosecutor handling the case got her charged with felony 1 and 2 for attempted murder and aggravated assault.”
According to the sheriff, this is not the first time Jones thought about killing her husband.
The sheriff said Jones’ 16-year-old daughter told investigators her mother had been planning this for about a year.
Authorities believe the teen’s call to 911 right after it happened likely saved her father’s life.
He is now in the hospital recovering.
Investigators say Jones later changed her story and admitted she tried to kill her husband.
Her bond is set at 500,000 dollars.
