EDMOND, Okla. - Edmond police have a suspect is in custody in connection to a homicide investigation on the city's near southeast side.

Police were called to a home in the 500-block of Park Place, just south of the University of Central Oklahoma shortly before 9 p.m.

"When we got here, we (found) an adult female, who is deceased inside the house," said Jenny Wagnon, Edmond Police spokeswoman. "She has injuries on her body that are consistent with homicide.”

“There were other family members that discovered her when they came home,” Wagnon said.

At about 9:45 p.m. a young girl was seen walking with a man and an officer towards a waiting van where the girl was met by another woman. The two briefly hugged before the girl was put in the van and it drove off.

Wagnon wouldn't say if the woman was home alone.

“That part is still under investigation," Wagnon said. "We’ve gone through the neighborhood here, just a little while ago, talking with neighbors, see if they saw anything, heard anything.”

Shortly after midnight Wednesday morning, police said a suspect was taken into custody.
