OKLAHOMA CITY - It’s a symbol of love and a memory of a day a bride will never forget.
It’s why an Oklahoma City woman is distraught after she said two men held her at gunpoint and stole her wedding rings.
“They demanded cash from her and the rings. The rings are valued at $60,000,” said Gary Knight, OKCPD.
Police said the robbery happened November 22 at an apartment complex on N.W. 122nd.
When police got there, they found the woman very upset and crying.
She told them she only stopped at the apartment complex because of car trouble.
“She was driving down the road, when her tire light came on, she pulled into an apartment complex, when two men approached her,” Knight said.
The woman said one suspect demanded her purse and the other told her to give him her wedding rings.
The victim said one suspect had his hand under his shirt, appearing to point a gun at her.
“It’s unclear why she was first targeted, but we know she had been there for a short time, when she was approached by the two men,” Knight said.
She said, after the robbery, the men took off running north through the apartment complex and she didn’t get a good look at their faces out fear they would hurt her if she did.
Police said, if you find yourself in a similar situation, to use caution.
“It’s a better idea to pull over in a well-lit parking lot of a place where there are people around. You don’t want to pull into an excluded area so, times, apartment can be dicey, depending on where you go,” Knight said.
