DENTON, Texas – When you’re hungry, you may be known to act unreasonably or even angry.

However, one Texas girl says that although the line at a fast-food restaurant was long, no one lost their cool.

Kolbie Sanders says she went to the Whataburger in Denton to grab a bite to eat around 1 a.m.

When she got inside, she realized the line was very long but decided to wait anyway.

The cashier, 20-year-old Taylor Pope, says he was simply trying to make it through his shift because he could see the line growing longer and longer.

He says he was struggling to understand a couple at the counter, so they had to repeat their orders several times.

He told the couple that he is deaf and has to read lips, so he asked if they would slow down while ordering.

In a world where bullying is common, Sanders says she believed that someone would get angry.

“I watched even after I placed my own order to see how everyone would react to him, to see if anyone would lose their temper with him taking extra long or get impatient because they were having to be hungry even longer, and I was surprised because not one person acted rude or impatient,” Kolbie Sanders wrote.

She posted a picture of Pope on Facebook and the post went viral.

Pope told FOX 4 that he has been working at Whataburger for the past two years after struggling to find a job once employers found out he was deaf.

He says he wasn’t doing anything special and just wants to “show all the people with disabilities that they shouldn’t be afraid of who they are.”

FOX 4 reports that all the employees at the Denton Whataburger learned sign language so they could sing ‘happy birthday’ to him last year.
