OKLAHOMA CITY – While crews were battling a blaze near a neighborhood in northwest Oklahoma City, officials in the southeast part of the city were working on another large fire.
Shortly after 2;30 p.m., firefighters were called to the area of S.E. 89th St. and I-35 for a grassfire.
Smoke could be seen for miles as crews continued to try and get the fire under control.
The fire continued to gain traction as it consumed dry grass along an industrial part of the city.
However, workers nearby tried to contain the fire by creating a firewall.
They used construction equipment to tear up the grass, leaving dirt surrounding the blaze.
Once firefighters arrived on scene, they raced to put out the fire, despite the strong winds shifting the blaze.
