BETHANY,Okla. – An elderly Bethany woman’s home was robbed.

Now, she’s sending a harsh message to the criminals.

The 74-year-old woman woke up just before 7 on Sunday morning to find three strangers inside her home.

Her husband, just shy of 90-years-old, slept through the invasion, while his wife in her 70’s met face-to-face with the people who broke into the couple’s home.

"Sunday morning, I'm in bed, and I hear a noise, and I thought it was my husband, and it wasn't him," Jean Smith said. "He was in bed."

Most people are in bed at that hour on a Sunday morning.

“I thought it might be the cats fussin’. They fuss,” Smith said. “I listen again, and I said ‘No, there’s somebody in my house.'”

So, Smith decided she would get out of bed to see what it was.

"I got out of bed. I just wanted to see, and I go this way, and I see a person come pass these stairs," Smith said. "I'm following this person, and I see it was a man, and I see his ugly neck."

Smith tiptoed around the stairs to find two more men inside her home.

“I’m going this way. I didn’t say a word, and there’s three of them standing there with hoods on,” Smith said. “This door’s wide opened, and I’m being burglarized.”

The 74 year old woman still remembers all the details.

They climbed in through a kitchen window and left through a back door.

They stole Smith’s husband’s credit cards and a computer.

"I didn't say anything. I just kept really quiet," Smith said. "One of them said, 'Grandma's here.' No one calls me grandma but my grandson who doesn't live here."

And, when all four locked eyes, the strangers darted out the back door.

"She was not hurt. They didn’t hurt her. They didn’t threaten her," said Detective Robert Lamar with the Bethany Police Department. "The biggest concern that I have is that it happened on the weekend. I don’t know what would’ve led them to believe that no one was home, so that bothers me tremendously, because that’s not normal."

"The rest is history. The cops came through like bandits," Smith said. "I mean to tell you, we're going to get you and, when we do, I'm going to put you in jail forever. There's no way you're going to get away with this."

And, that's not all this lady has to say to the three men who broke in.

"I'm getting a gun and a big dog, so don't ever come around here any more," Smith said. "That's my advice, don't mess with me anymore."

Bethany detectives caught four people of interest on surveillance camera.

Police said they tried to use the couple’s stolen credit cards at a Walmart.
