OCOEE, Fla. – An elderly woman is recovering from a violent attack inside a grocery store.

She was knocked unconscious when a thief ripped her purse from her hands.

Charlotte Dunaway is bruised, sore and angry.

On Friday morning, she was attacked inside the Publix and knocked to the ground.

“I was knocked unconscious and I have no memory of what happened,” Charlotte Dunaway.

“Nobody injuries our mother and is just going to run off. We feel like you picked the wrong family this time to mess with,” said Scarlett Root.

“Does anybody have a conscience? I mean, if you want to be a punk, pick on somebody your own age,” said Kristi Tilton.

Dunaway, 74, was just released from the hospital and has a list of injuries that require follow-up care over the coming weeks.

“And then this left hand is swollen and extremely sore and some discomfort through my head from the brain trauma,” Dunaway said.

While she focuses on getting better, her daughters are pleading to the public for help in finding the suspects.

“What is society coming to when a woman can’t carry a purse on her arm and walk into a store without feeling like she has to look over her back shoulder because somebody’s going to attack her,” said Tilton.

“Make yourself some fast, easy money and call and tell who he is. You can do it anonymously. You’ll get a bigger payoff than he got,” said Root.
