YUKON, Okla. – A family was shocked to find a stranger covered in blood in their living room.

"Other than this, I would say so far it's been a terrific community, but we've got a little bit of a weird story to share out of it now. Hopefully, we can move forward,” Gary Robinson said.

Robinson and his family have only lived in their Yukon home for a few weeks, but that was just enough time for the unthinkable to happen.

"I was just about to go to bed and I heard what sounded like screaming coming from the front of the house out in the court. I couldn't quite make out what they were saying but it sounded like the same thing over and over again,” Robinson said.

That’s when he heard a loud bang, loud enough that it sounded like it was coming from inside his home.

“I came in through the back door running, just as my wife was coming out of the bedroom, and I saw a man sort of stumble through my entry way from my front office,” Robinson said.

The man, 40-year-old Verdis Owens, had jumped through the office window, leaving the glass shattered in pieces.

Robinson says he tackled Owens to the ground while his wife called 911.

"When police arrived, the man was still lying on the floor. He was bloodied and cut up from jumping through the window, and the cuts he received from the glass,” MSgt. Gary Knight, with Oklahoma City Police Department, said.

Owens was arrested on a burglary charge. Robinson was told that was later dropped to destruction of private property because he claims he got in a drunken fight and was pushed into the window.

Regardless of how he got there, Robinson says it was still a scary situation.

"You sort of lose that sense of safety in your own home and that's unfortunate. So, we're having to sort of reconcile that a little bit,” Robinson said.

He says Owens was clearly under the influence of something.

Robinson says authorities told him that Owens claims to have only been drunk.
